With the Orion Observer™ 70mm Altazimuth Refractor you can see Saturn's rings, Jupiter's moons and Jupiter's cloud bands, the majestic Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, and so much more. This Orion telescope is made of seamless aluminum and outfitted with a smooth-action rack-and-pinion focuser on one end and a dew cap/glare shield on the other. Housed inside is a multi-coated, achromatic glass objective lens that's 70mm in diameter, with a focal length of 700mm (f/10). This lens takes in 36% more light than a 60mm lens. Bottom line: you'll see more with the Orion Observer™ 70mm Altazimuth Refractor. The altazimuth mount is specially engineered to provide much greater stability than the standard "off the shelf" altaz mounts. It has an altitude micro-motion control to allow very fine aiming adjustments. This Orion telescope is durable, yet also lightweight and easy to carry to your observing location, be it out on the lawn or an hour's drive into the hills. The Orion Observer 70mm Altazamuth Refractor comes with everything you need to start observing right away. Standard accessories include a 5x crosshair finder scope, mirror star diagonal, 10mm (70x) Explorer II eyepiece and 25mm (28x) Explorer II eyepiece, and a sturdy aluminum tripod with accessory tray.

Note that this Orion telescope is a refractor telescope, and the finest refractors provide the best images of any telescope design for a given aperture. Refractor telescopes can provide sharp, high-contrast views at high magnification and are less bothered by atmospheric "seeing" than the other telescope designs.
